For the past few years we’ve been going to the zoo at least once. This we added something a little extra to the day. We thought we’d take a bit of tie and check out the free tour at Mrs. Cavanough’s chocolate factory and see what’s it’s all about.

We were scheduled for a 10 am tour of the factory and actually made it to SLC with about 10 minutes to spare. We got in and they took us upstairs where a couple of pieces of chocolate were waiting for us (SWEET! and I mean that both ways). They had us watch a movie about the history of the Cavanoughs and chocolate (Montezuma would drink 50 cups of bitter chocolate drink!). As a treat, anyone that thinks we’re loosing touch with our Constitution and our government is overgrown it’s role will love the end of the movie.

They showed us the factory from the upstairs windows and what each area does and by the time we left that free tour turned into a $12 tour…hahaha…mmmm Kerri Cherris.

As a word of caution, and this may apply to all sugar-free chocolates (I don’t know, I don’t eat them) but they have to tell you that it causes diarrhea.

So then it was off to the zoo. The sun was out (and my pale face was in for a treat), and the weather was nice. The new exhibit this year was a albino alligator. This was our first stop.

I guess there are only 7 of these things out there. The green you see in the cracks of the skin is algae not a skin color.

Then we moved on. There’s so many fun things at the zoo. The kids really love it, Sydney was all over naming the animals. She went last year, but was only 1 so I don’t know how much of an impression it made on her, but this year she totally loved it.

They were doing a bit of construction, but it didn’t effect any of the attractions that I could tell, it was for a performance area where they bring animals out to show the kids. There was a guy with a bird on his hand showing it and talking about it to a small group of people. I took Sydney over to it and she seemed to have gotten a tad bit nervous over it and wanted to split. But she’s a cutey (she fell asleep in my arms as I was writing this).

On our way home we stopped off at Applebees for some dinner, I only mention this because lately it seems that all the restaurants I like to goto  are progressively  getting worse. That dinner was no exception, bleh…it just wasn’t good at all.

So here’s the other photos I got from the zoo, I don’t much think of these as anything special but they look good.

The pics are fun - and I’ve never heard of an Albino alligator.
    One never stops learning.

Will you please email me that Elephant pic so I can have it blown up and printed for my living room wall? Elephants have become our little symbol for Jack, eventually it will probably look like the Elephants have taken over our house! LOL

Joey’s last blog post..Self Portrait Truthiness
